ENOVIA Search Card – What is it and how to

What is the ENOVIA Search Card? The ENOVIA Search Card is a tool contained within the SOLIDWORKS and WINDOWS Integration of ENOVIA. It is used to search SOLIDWORKS parts, assemblies and drawings inside the vault from within the integration itself. Out of the box, it is important to note that the integration only handles SOLIDWORKS file types, therefore the Search Card will be limited to only show those results. The Search Card can be found inside of your Windows Explorer once the user has clicked the 3DEXPERIENCE icon and logged in. When the user first logs into the system and before the user selects anything, the card should be the […]

SOLIDWORKS PDM One Click Open Files

Recently with all of the Windows upgrades we have been receiving support calls regarding why some/all files are opening from the vault with one click. Although this is not a PDM setting but rather a Windows one, we thought we would share the most common solution to this issue. Below are a few screen shots of there that setting in windows is and how to correct it for the entire vault. To begin, below is a screenshot of my local vault (at the root, this is an important step) with the Organize menu displayed in the top left corner. Here you will select "Change folder and search options". Here, on […]

Enovia 3DEXPERIENCE 2015x – What’s New! 2015x vs 2014x Part 3

Welcome back for part 3 of this series in what's new for Enovia 2015x. In this part of the series, I will be finishing up on what's new for the connector. Below are the last of the improvements, Enjoy!   Lifecycle Promotion In 2015x, a new feature was added to the command manager in SolidWorks which may be my favorite add on yet; you are able to promote! For those of you who have never used Enovia before (or those that have and know this all too well), in previous versions the user was required to promote outside of SolidWorks. This meant checking out you part, doing your engineering change, […]

Enovia 3DEXPERIENCE 2015x – What’s New! 2015x vs 2014x Part 1

For those that may not have known, Dassault Systemes held their annual Value Solutions Sales Convention of the Americas last week in Miami Florida. The InFlow Technology Team had the pleasure of attending this year’s conference and the opportunity to see what’s new inside of Enovia for 2015. Over the course of the next few weeks, I will write a series of blogs with the new improvements of 2015x versus 2014x. The majority of improvements this year mainly reside in the background, upgrading performance and capability behind the scenes. So for the first few parts of this series I’d like to focus on the improvements we can see in the […]

32-bit options for EPDM

Recently Inflow Technology has had a few calls regarding support for Windows OS 32bit. So here is the general information below regarding Dassault Systemes current support for the 32 bit systems out there, and what they plan to do in the future. Currently, DS does support some options for Windows 7 32-bit configurations, but ONLY FOR VIEWER AND CONTRIBUTORS. If the user is an editor, that client machine must be running 64-bit as SolidWorks is only available in 64-bit. It's important to note that this will be the very last version of EPDM that will have any 32-bit support. From 2016 and on there will only be 64-bit versions. That […]

How To Use Copy Tree 2015: The Basics

EPDM 2015 has given copy tree some more power than previous versions as well as fixes a few bugs that were there previously. For those of you have not used this before, the copy tree function is EPDM's take on SolidWorks Pack n' Go feature. With this tool, you will be able to move files around and outside of the vault while keeping their reference to each other. Many designers prefer creating new parts and assemblies from geometry that exists. Most will use a save as function in SolidWorks, but will then have to spend time finding the references for that new part. Using the copy tree allows a user […]

How to Manually Delete File Vault Views and Why You Would Need to.

Disclaimer: I'd like to first mention that this blog article and solution should only be attempted by EPDM admin and IT. As it does require admin rights on the local machine to edit registry keys, without proper knowledge of the registry key it is very easy to compromise your machine. Also, this blog is intended for use in situations where the vault is already corrupt or not working properly. For people just wanting to replace their view, use the standard procedure for adding and removing the file vault view. Please be sure to always check in all files into vault if possible or at least have copies saved in another […]

SOLIDWORKS/EPDM 2015 sp4 Missing Add-Ins, Crashing or “GdtAnalysisSupport.dll” Error

SolidWorks is currently investigating multiple reports of three problems , all of which share the same root cause, a conflict with Microsoft KB3072630 (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/security/MS15-074) that was pushed out on July 15th. The problem has been reported to their developers as Software Performance Report SPR 902645 and SolidWorks is working with Microsoft toward a resolution. Note that the issue could manifest itself in the following ways: Add-ins missing after an upgrade of SolidWorks to a newer Service Pack (SP) When launching SolidWorks or opening a file, SW returns the error “Could not load SOLIDWORKS DLL: GdtAnalysisSupport.dll” SolidWorks crash when recording, playing, or editing a SOLIDWORKS® Macro This update makes changes to […]

Linking Files in Enterprise PDM Using “Paste as Reference”

Enterprise PDM does a fantastic job maintaining part references for assembly files, but what about all of those other file types? Enterprise PDM is capable of storing a wide variety of documents, not just CAD data, and it is just important to control and reference those documents as if they were part of the assembly as well. Since the files may not be used in the actual assembly, we are allowed to create our own reference links to any file that we would like. This is called “Paste as Reference”. The process itself is almost exactly the same as a standard Copy/Paste inside of Windows. In this example we will […]

The Best Practices for Enterprise PDM Convert Task

1) It is recommended to use dedicated task hosts with a minimum of RAM 3 GB for x32 OS (RAM 4 GB and more for x64 OS) and be able to open the drawings and files that are converted. Task host must have Solidworks installed and EPDM client and vault view(s) installed. 2) Enterprise PDM must be started with a continuous login on the task host. 3) Using a dedicated task host that meet the suggested requirements can help minimize resource overextensions which may result in failed tasks. 4) Running tasks requires at least one Solidworks license and one EPDM license. Solidworks license enabling tasks are: SolidWorks Premium, Office and […]
