SOLIDWORKS has released 2015 version of their CAD and Enterprise PDM software systems and it is currently at service pack 2.1. With the release of new versions, we experience increased volume of EPDM support issues due to faulty upgrades. Please review the following steps to ensure the upgrade process will not cause any problems and downtime: Test Environment – Setup a test environment and run through a standard scenario. Create new files, workflows, revision bump etc. Even though resources and time will be needed to set up a test environment, the transition to the new version will be less painful. Remember, once you upgrade the systems, there is no going […]
SOLIDWORKS Workgroup 2015 has a critical issue (SPR 848286) where the workgroup service stops randomly. This issue has been fixed in service pack 2 which is scheduled for release next week (approximate). Do not upgrade your SOLIDWORKS/workgroup environments to 2015 until this service pack is released.

Two components are needed for SolidWorks integration to the Enovia 2014x environment namely, IEF (Integration Exchange Framework Client) and SW connector for client. These installs are located in: V6R2014x.AM_3DEXP_NativeApps.AllOS.1-11\AM_3DEXP_NativeApps.AllOS\1\DEK-ConnectorforSolidWork\ConnectorforSolidWorks. Install Steps: 1. Install Java JRE (I use JDK7.51) 2. Install Integration Exchange Framework client x64. Ensure the correct URL path is entered for server. 3. Install Connector for Solidworks client x64. Enter the View path or accept default (defaults to C:\ENOVIA) 4. To test, browse to windows explorer, double click on the Enovia icon and login.
The following steps will ensure your 3DEXPERIENCE client license is setup correctly: On the client PC, go to ProgramData\DassaultSystemes\ folder (unhide if invisible) Create a folder named Licenses Within this folder, create a text file named "DSLicSrv" Add the "server hostname:4085" to the text file.
To find the current version and/or hot-fixes installed on the Enovia V6/3DEXPERIENCE system: Login to the enovia web portal and in the address bar, replace "emxNavigator.jsp" with "emxHelpAboutFS.jsp" http://hostname:port\enovia\commom\emxHelpAboutFS.jsp The result would be similar to the following: Each product module is listed independently including the version and the hot-fix.

SW Workgroup Add-In fails to retain user password for auto login when WG is set to be enabled at Start Up. This issue is a bug in the system. The workaround is to enable the WG add-in feature in SW Explorer.
If a workgroup user leaves the company and has hundreds of files under his/her ownership, the following process will help clear the ownership for all the files. The other option is to release ownership one file at a time but this could take a long time to complete. 1. Make sure all current users have checked in and released ownership of their files. 2. Once all files are checked in and released by active users, only those that are no longer active users should be shown as unreleased. 3. Open the vault admin tool and make sure the vault is set to validate on restart. 4. Stop the PDM Workgroup […]
SmarTeam Server has been installed and configured. Services are running. Client has been installed. Config.dll is pointing to the correct server. License server is working. All configuration settings (scripts, icons etc.) have been set but when you start SmarTeam Editor, a message pops up "Please check if SmarTeam Services are started". The reason for this error is that the SmarTeam.Std.Config.dll has been over written with the previous versions dll file. This situation happens mostly during an upgrade process. For example, the systems are upgraded from version V5R20 to V5-R62013 and because the number of clients to be upgraded are huge, IT creates a script to install SmarTeam automatically. This script […]
